Dr Ngai-yin Chan

Dr Ngai-Yin Chan received his MBBS degree from the University of Hong Kong in 1992 and was conferred Doctor of Medicine [MD(HKU)] in 2019.  He was conferred FACC, FRCP(Edin), FRCP(Glasg), FRCP(Lond), FHRS and FESC in the years of 2005, 2006, 2010, 2012 and 2019 respectively. He is currently Chief-of-Service and Consultant Physician in the Department of Medicine & Geriatrics in Princess Margaret Hospital and North Lantau Hospital.  He is also an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor of the Department of Medicine & Therapeutics of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.  He has been taking very active roles in different professional organizations in Hong Kong.  He was the past President of the Hong Kong Interhospital Network of Pacing and Cardiac Electrophysiology.  He is currently the President of the Hong Kong College of Cardiology.  He is the organizing chairman of the Annual Scientific Congress of Hong Kong College of Cardiology.  He is the Co-chairman of the Asian Preventive Cardiology and Cardiac Rehabilitation Conference.  He is also currently the Chairman of the Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society Public Affairs Subcommittee.  His research interest is on catheter cryoablation, epidemiology and community screening of atrial fibrillation, ICD and pacing therapy, left atrial appendage occlusion, preventive cardiology and cardiac rehabilitation.  He is the first author of over 50 peer-reviewed manuscripts and abstracts.  He is the editor of a textbook titled “The Practice of Catheter Cryoablation for Arrhythmias”.  Dr Chan is an all-round cardiologist and has published extensively in the areas of cardiac electrophysiology, interventional cardiology and preventive cardiology in high-impact journals like the Journal of American College of Cardiology, Heart, Europace, Heart Rhythm and Canadian Journal of Cardiology.  He is a Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Hong Kong College of Cardiology.  With his outstanding performance both professionally and in the community contribution, he won the Hong Kong Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award in the year of 2006 and the Hong Kong Humanity Award in the year of 2015.
