Jose L. Zamorano is a Professor of Medicine at the University Alcala de Henares, Madrid, and the Chief of Cardiology at the University Hospital Ramón y Cajal. Prof. Zamorano obtained his medical degree from the University Complutense in 1987 and his doctor in Medicine in 1991.He received his board certification in Cardiology in 1993 before joining as an Associate Professor the faculty at the Complutense University.
Dr. Zamorano’s has a broad range of research interests including heart failure, ischaemic heart disease, cardiovascular risk factors and cardiovascular imaging modalities. Within these fields, Prof. Zamorano has published over 400 articles and twenty books including the European Textbook of Cardiovascular Imaging. His impact factor is > 1500 and Hirsch Index of 100 with more than 15000 citations.
Prof. Zamorano has been actively participating in International Scientific Societies. Currently is Vicepresident of the European Society of Cardiology. He served as Secretary of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), President of the European Association of Echocardiography (EAE), International Advisor of the American College of Cardiology’s International Committee, director of the scientific programme in imaging for the ESC Congress, and member of the Practice Guidelines Committee of the ESC.
Over the past 20 years, Prof. Zamorano has received a number of prestigious Spanish and International awards, such as the Golden Plaque of the Public Health Authorities of Madrid and the Ingel Edler Gold Medal, the silver medal of the European Society of Cardiology and Research Award of the Spanish Society of Cardiology. He has served in different Editorial Boards of Research journals as the Spanish Journal of Cardiology, European Journal of echocardiography, European Journal of Cardiovascular Imaging, American Society of Echocardiography, European Heart Journal, Journal of American College of Cardiology Cardiovascular Imaging and International Relations Task Force of the American Society of Echocardiography. Currently is Associate Editor of the European Journal of Cardiovascular Imaging.
