Dr Elaine Chau is currently Consultant Cardiologist at the Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital. Dr Chau received her undergraduate training at Oxford University and Guy’s Hospital, London. She underwent cardiology specialist training at Grantham Hospital and spent 1 year doing a Cardiovascular Fellowship program in Heart Failure & Transplantation at the May Clinic, USA. After 15 years as Director of Heart Failure and Transplant Program at Grantham Hospital, she went into private practice in 2007. In 2011, she led the team at HK Sanatorium & Hospital to use the VAD as destination therapy in the first patient in Asia. She is engaged in clinical practice and teaching of undergraduate medical students and is Clinical Associate Professor at the Hong Kong University and at Chinese University of Hong Kong.
