On behalf of the Hong Kong College of Cardiology (HKCC), it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the 28th Annual Scientific Congress of the Hong Kong College of Cardiology which will be held on 3 - 5 July 2020.  Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the challenge of organizing a large scale scientific and educational program is huge.  Nevertheless, education for cardiovascular professionals has always been the primary mission of the Hong Kong College of Cardiology and our Annual Scientific Congress has established herself as the iconic and flagship educational program for cardiovascular professional from different disciplines in Hong Kong.

This year, to adapt to the highly dynamic situation resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, we are going to present a high-quality and comprehensive program in cardiovascular medicine via a virtual platform.  Renowned international and local experts will connect to discuss the current update and controversies in cardiovascular medicine.  The Organizing Committee has put together an attractive program composing of different theme-based symposia, joint sessions with international cardiac societies, Hong Kong Heart Foundation Lecture, abstract and case presentations, poster presentations, cardiology course for family physicians and general practitioners, paediatric cardiology program and allied health cardiovascular symposium.

Last but not least, international collaboration remains to be an important component in our Congress. This year, we will collaborate with the American College of Cardiology (ACC), the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and the Korean Society of Cardiology (KSC) to produce 3 exciting joint sessions. I believe all participants would undoubtedly have an extremely enjoyable learning experience during this conference!
